Trader archetypes

Year
2022/25

I've been closely watching >3k wallets trade for the past 3 years. Here are the trader categories I've identified:

1. Day traders: lots of trades (surprise). They can catch good coins early but often exit before they moon. Unless you can dedicate time to track their moves, don't bother.

2. Freestylers: sometimes day trade for fun, sometimes support, sometimes early, sometimes buying the top, sometimes strike gold. The biggest and most unpredictable category – you can still get good signal from them though.

3. Supporters: their main goal isn't profit but backing their own users/friends/creators/projects. Often early! I see myself here (also my main excuse for why I'm not ridiculously rich yet).

4. Whales: conviction plays. They usually don't throw money around without prior research. And when they do go big, it's worth at least checking the project's socials. Yes, the size is bigger here, but that doesn't mean it can't go x10/100/1000.

5. Gold mines: well-connected, reputable people who don't usually trade. But when they do, it's really worth paying attention. There aren't many – I've found 4 of these for myself and watch them closely.

All of these can be extremely early for something you want to be part of. The trick is knowing their patterns and the games they play, so you know when to pay attention.
